If you find an abandoned building near the city, it’s likely covered in graffiti. If you find an abandoned building in northern Minnesota, it’s sure that someone found all of the fire extinguishers and emptied them, broke a few things, and left a little trash.. this is an example.

We discovered this building looking in pretty decent shape – it wasn’t trashed and there was at least one full fire extinguisher. We didn’t have a flash light, so we revisited a week later. During the week we were gone someone had emptied the fire extinguisher in this bathroom, broke some florescent light bulbs on the floor, emptied a large box of packing peanuts on the ground, and thrown some other things around.

This place has drawn a lot of attention lately. Buildings like this can be a dream for people searching for scrap metal. That would probably explain the fresh truck tracks we saw both times we’ve been here.
