Snow Covered Tree

While winter is quickly on it’s way out in Minneapolis, I thought I’d look back at a photo taken in the beginning of winter. Things are looking a lot different.

Tomorrow morning I’m headed out toward Mount Bohemia, MI with two other Minneapolis skiboarders for the first Midwest Meet. With 175 inches of snow this year, we’re hoping to find some good stuff. In total there will be 7 of us, some coming from as far as Maryland.

Rocks and Roots

The biggest difference between woods in Minnesota and woods in Upper Michigan? Underbrush. I spent some time hiking, looking for water falls, hoping to see a moose, and exploring different areas of Upper MI with my mom in summer 2008. We were both surprised to see how clear the forest floor was compared to what we’re used to here in MN. I really loved the way these roots sat above the ground on these rock faces, twisting and turning.
